Travel Guidelines

FYI, from State:

Updated Travel Guidelines to Support COVID-19 Response. Effective Wednesday, July 1, all travelers arriving to Massachusetts, including residents returning home, are instructed to self-quarantine for 14-days. This guidance does not apply to travelers from Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York or New Jersey. Additionally, workers designated by the federal government as essential critical infrastructure workers are also exempt from this directive. Travelers who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 are instructed to not travel to Massachusetts. All visitors and residents of Massachusetts are also reminded that the use of masks or face coverings in public places where individuals cannot socially distance from others remains required. These new guidelines replace previously announced Massachusetts travel guidance.

Phase 2

Governor Baker's reopening task force paved the way to re-open fields for team practices, so we are anxiously awaiting word from the City's parks department for our permit. As soon as we have it, coaches may begin scheduling practices. We will communicate with you in real-time by email,, facebook and twitter.

A few reminders. There will be no sharing of equipment. All players will need their own gear, including face covering, hand sanitizer, glove, bat, helmet, water bottles. There will be no team water stations, so be prepared to send lots of water with your kids. We recommend they have a gear bag, too. A duffel bag or backpack. No gum, seeds, spitting, high fives, etc will be allowed. Shacks and bathrooms will start out closed, so plan accordingly for that. We are exploring portapottys. Dugouts will remain closed until we start games, which we expect in phase 3 on or about June 30. Playoffs will end by August 13.

Coaches will enforce social distancing to the best of their ability, but please have a sit-down with your kids about how this baseball season is different. We don't like the new rules either, but we have to be as safe and use an abundance of common sense. Thanks to some generous local donors who support youth baseball, we plan to purchase WYB neck gaiters for each player that can also be used as face coverings. Until then, they will need to bring their own face covering to each practice. They aren't needed in the field, but are when they can't social distance.

If you have any questions, let me know, and we will keep you posted as information trickles in. Time to shut down the video games and safely get back to America's pastime. Play ball!
